Alex Oti was elected as the 4th Governor of Abia state under labour party on the just held governorship election which took place on the 18th day of march 2023.
He wins to end the 24 years straight rule on PDP on the state. He was celebrated by the people of Abia state after his announcement which took place in Umuahia the capital of Abia state on the 22nd day of march 202 after a brief delay in the announcement where he lead the leading Party of PDP with 175,467 votes while PDP got 88,529 votes APC got 24,094 votes.

Alex Oti Biography
Dr Alex Oti a known banker who served as the head director of Diamond Bank PLC of Nigeria which is currently associated with Access bank is a respected gentleman who has earned himself a name in the economic and banking sector of Nigeria.
Alex Oti was just declared the winner of the just concluded Abia state governorship election by INEC ending the 24 years rule of PDP in the state.
Part of his campaign promises was to restore the state of Abia from the misrule the state has suffered under PDP. He promised to bring developments, and investors into the state, implementation of new strategies that will build the crippled economy state of the state, pay workers what the state owes them and make sure he never owe civil servants and teachers in the state.
Abia state people are known to be very industrious people especially Aba as it has been recorded that only Aba generates millions of dollars on monthly bases and Ariaria international market has been one of the most industry markets in Africa.
Ariaria market has brought many foreign businesses who come to the market to purchase goods and services which do generate millions for the state of Abia.
Dr Alex Oti has run for the seat of Governorship 3 times starting in 2015 which he failed and run again in 2019 and also was not declared winner under All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
He joined All Progressive Congress (APC) but the party refused to issue him a ticket as their governorship candidate for the state of Abia state favouring Ikechi Emenike instead which made him join the Labour Party.

Alex Oti Early Life and Career
Dr Alex Oti was born to a family of late Pastor Mr and Mrs Lazarus Weze Otti at Umuru community, Umuehim village in Ehi Na Uguru Ancient Kingdom of Arochukwu.
He started his secondary school at Ngwa High school and Aba Technical School, Okpualangwa in Abia State which are all located in Aba city where he finish as one of the best students in his set.
Dr Alex Oti now got admission into the University Of Portharcourt where he finishes with first-class honours in a bachelor’s degree in Economics in the year 1988 toping as the best-graduating student of his set.
Alex Oti worked really hard in his days as a student of the university of portharcourt where he distinguishes himself not only by graduating as a first-class student in the faculty of social science but overall being the best of that year.
He did not only excel academically, and work hard as a student, but he also contributed to the school newspaper as a publisher of the Uniport Mirror.
He was also the treasurer of the university chapter of the Nigerian Economic Students’ Association (NESA) in 1986 and subsequently became the association President just after a year after joining.
Alex Oti Career
Dr Alex Oti began his banking career in the year 1989 with Nigeria International bank which was a subsidiary of Citibank of New York where he was employed in the Operations Department. After working there for just years he moved to the Nigerian Intercontinental Merchant Bank LDT where he worked both in the Treasury and Financial Services unit and as well as the Corporate Banking Division.
Then in the year 1992, he moved to join the Societe Bancaire Nigeria Limited which was a subsidiary of the Banque SBA Paris where he obtained the role of Senior Manager.
After briefly working in that position he moved to United Bank For Africa UBA where he was made Principal Manager that is in charge of overseeing the corporate sector of the bank for the entire south division which has the specific duty of growing the Oil and Gas business of the bank.
While serving in that role, he mates with well-respected businessmen and politicians. From there he develops an interest in adding politics to his portfolio.
Dr Alex Oti was a very hard-working banker who worked diligently to grow his career and establish a good reputation. He was quickly promoted to Assistant General Manager in May of the year 2001 when he joined the First Bank Of Nigeria PLC with the responsibility of growing the Energy sector of the bank.
In 2004 Alex Oti was now promoted to Deputy General Manager and later that same year was promoted to the Executive Director of Commercial banking later on a redesign of the Executive Director for South Directorate was held.
While working in that position, he had the responsibility to oversee 140 branches in the south-south and southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Then from there, he moved to Diamond Bank PLC in 2011 as the overall group managing director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank where was the leader of a major transformation of the bank which later sold out after he left office.

Alex Oti started his secondary school at an early age in Ngwa High school which is located in Aba Abia State where he finishes as the best student in his set.
Dr Alex Oti now moved to get a higher degree at the University Of Port Harcourt where he finishes with first-class honours in a bachelor’s degree in Economics in the year 1988 toping as the best graduating student.
He later attended Prestigious Harvard Business School where he obtain a degree in Executive Development Program, then moved to Columbia Business and Stanford Business School and Wharton Business School Pennsylvania
Then in 2009, he obtain an honourable Doctorate Degree from Babcock University and then in 2012 an honourable Doctorate Degree in Social Science from the University Of Port Harcourt.
Alex Oti Wife
Alex Oti got married to Priscilla Otti and was born in the year 1970 in Abia state Nigeria. She schooled in Girls High School Aba and later on attended the University Of Nigeria Nsuka where she studied Economics and graduated later.
She worked briefly in the banking sector with her husband and then later became the CEO of a useful fashion business named Fashion House that specializes in designing apparel for women which later grew to become a very reputable brand in Nigeria’s Fashion Industry which has several branches in several cities of Nigeria.
